About the Journal

Jurnal Mebis (Manajemen dan Bisnis) (E-ISSN 2599-283X) is an open-access, peer-reviewed scholarly journal published by UPN Veteran Jawa Timur, Indonesia. The journal provides a platform for researchers, academics, and practitioners to disseminate original research and scholarly insights in management, business, entrepreneurship, and related fields.

MEBIS welcomes submissions from Indonesia and other countries. Submitted manuscripts must be original, fall within the journal’s aims and scope, and must not be under consideration for publication elsewhere. All research articles are evaluated through editorial screening and a double-blind peer-review process involving at least two independent reviewers before a final editorial decision is made.

The journal publishes two issues per year, in June and December. Published articles are accessible immediately without subscription or access charges. Information regarding article processing charges, copyright, licensing, peer review, research ethics, and archiving is available on the journal website.

MEBIS aims to encourage rigorous, ethical, and impactful scholarship that contributes to theory, empirical knowledge, policy, and professional practice in management and business.

Jurnal Mebis (Manajemen dan Bisnis) accept submission from all over the world. All accepted articles will be published on payment of an article-processing charge, and will be freely available to all readers with worldwide visibility and coverage.

Peer Review Process

All manuscripts submitted to the Jurnal Mebis (Manajemen dan Bisnis) are evaluated using a double-blind peer review system, whereby both reviewers and authors remain anonymous to one another. Typically, each manuscript is assessed by a minimum of two reviewers.

Initially, submissions undergo an editorial evaluation. Only manuscripts that align with the journal’s scope and adhere to the author guidelines proceed to the subsequent review stage. This preliminary evaluation may take up to one month.

Following the editorial assessment, authors are required to revise their manuscripts in accordance with the editors’ recommendations. The revised manuscript is then subjected to the peer review process, which generally takes between one and three months. Reviewers are usually allocated up to four weeks to complete their evaluations. Upon completion of the review and subsequent author revisions, the editorial decision (along with any further required modifications) will be communicated to the author.

Editorial decisions are based on reviewers’ feedback and may include:

Manuscripts that successfully pass the review process and receive acceptance will be scheduled for publication in an upcoming issue of Jurnal Mebis (Manajemen dan Bisnis). Nevertheless, the Editor-in-Chief retains full authority to make the final decision regarding publication.

Manuscripts may be rejected for several reasons, including:

• The article alignment with the journal’s scope

• Failure to comply with scientific writing standards or the journal’s author guidelines / template

• Presence of fundamental methodological flaws

• Refusal to address reviewers’ comments without valid justification

• Evidence of plagiarism exceeding 20%

The overall review process typically ranges from 4 to 16 weeks, depending on the time required by editors and reviewers to complete their evaluations. If authors do not receive confirmation within a reasonable period, they may follow up through the Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform.

Publication Frequency

Jurnal Mebis (Manajemen dan Bisnis) is published biannually in June and December.

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.

All articles published Open Access will be immediately and permanently free for everyone to read and download.  We are continuously working with our author communities to select the best choice of license options,

Archiving

This journal utilizes the LOCKSS system to create a distributed archiving system among participating libraries and permits those libraries to create permanent archives of the journal for purposes of preservation and restoration.

Author Guidelines

General Requirements

MEBIS publishes original scholarly manuscripts in management and business. Submitted work must make a clear contribution to theory, evidence, methodology, policy, or professional practice; follow ethical research and publishing standards; and be written clearly in an academic style. Authors must not submit the same manuscript simultaneously to another journal.

Manuscripts must demonstrate a coherent research problem, appropriate theoretical or conceptual foundations, suitable research methods, transparent results or review procedures, and conclusions supported by the evidence presented.

Manuscript Preparation

• Manuscripts must be prepared using the latest MEBIS template and uploaded through OJS in an editable file format accepted by the system.
• The general format is A4 paper, single-column layout, Arial 10 pt, 1.5 line spacing, margins of 2 cm on all sides, and continuous line numbering, unless the current official manuscript template specifies otherwise.
• For double-blind review, identifying information must be placed in a separate title page or in OJS metadata and removed from the anonymised manuscript, including file properties and self-identifying acknowledgements.
• Use clear section headings and number tables and figures consecutively. Ensure that each table and figure is referred to in the text and is legible. Provide editable source materials where requested by editors.
• Use consistent terminology, SI units where relevant, and transparent data and methodological reporting. Permissions are required for copyrighted third-party figures, tables, or instruments where applicable.

Recommended Manuscript Structure

The standard structure for empirical studies is: Title; Abstract; Keywords; Introduction; Literature Review or Theoretical Framework (where appropriate); Research Methods; Results and Discussion; Conclusion; Acknowledgements/Funding (if applicable); Declarations; and References. Review articles should adapt this structure to include their search strategy, eligibility criteria, screening procedures, evidence synthesis, and limitations.

Title and Author Information

The title should be concise, informative, and sufficiently specific to reflect the topic or relationships examined. Avoid unnecessary abbreviations. Enter the full names, affiliations, country, and email addresses of all authors accurately in the OJS submission metadata. Designate one corresponding author.

Abstract

Provide a self-contained abstract of 150–200 words in one paragraph. Clearly describe the background or problem, research objective, methods, principal findings, and main contribution or implications. Do not include citations. Avoid uncommon abbreviations, or define them at first use.

Keywords

Include a maximum of five meaningful keywords or key phrases, preferably arranged alphabetically. Avoid unnecessarily broad terms, duplicate concepts, and excessive repetition of words used in the title.

Introduction

Present the research problem, its relevance, the scholarly context, the gap in existing knowledge, the study objective or research question, and the expected contribution. Avoid long descriptive summaries with no critical synthesis. As an existing MEBIS formatting convention, the introduction is approximately 750–1,000 words; authors should also follow any updated official template.

Literature Review and Hypothesis Development (if applicable)

Develop a critical discussion of relevant theories and prior research rather than merely listing definitions. Explain the conceptual model, constructs, propositions, hypotheses, or analytical questions as appropriate to the study design. Hypotheses are not mandatory for qualitative, exploratory, or certain review-based manuscripts.

Research Methods

Describe the research design, context, population and sample or participant selection, research instruments or data sources, data collection procedures, ethical considerations, and analytical techniques. Clearly state procedures for validity, reliability, trustworthiness, or robustness where applicable. For experiments, surveys, interviews, field studies, secondary data, and literature reviews, report sufficient detail for readers to assess the methods and, where feasible, reproduce the procedures. The legacy MEBIS guideline specifies approximately 400–600 words for this section; longer descriptions are appropriate where needed for methodological transparency.

Results and Discussion

Present findings in a coherent sequence using accurate tables, figures, quotations, or statistics, as appropriate. Discuss the results in relation to research objectives, relevant theories, and prior literature. Explain the scholarly and practical implications and acknowledge limitations. Do not present unsupported causal claims or overstate findings beyond the research design.

Conclusion

Summarise the answer to the research question, the principal contribution, and concise practical or theoretical implications. State major limitations and directions for further research where relevant. The legacy guideline specifies a brief conclusion of approximately 40–80 words; the journal may accept an appropriately longer conclusion where necessary for substantive completeness and consistency with the approved template.

Acknowledgements, Funding, and Declarations

Acknowledge support from individuals who do not meet authorship criteria and disclose financial support, research ethics approval or consent where applicable, conflicts of interest, data availability when required, and relevant use of generative AI in accordance with the journal’s AI Disclosure Policy.

References and Citation Style

Use author–date citations and the APA 7th edition reference style consistently, unless the approved MEBIS template prescribes a newer journal-specific variant. Every in-text citation must correspond to a reference and vice versa. Include DOI links where available, and verify all references against the original sources.

The existing MEBIS guideline requires at least 10 references, approximately 80% drawn from scholarly journal literature, and emphasis on primary and recent sources (generally the preceding ten years). Authors should select references by relevance and quality; influential older foundational works may be retained where scientifically necessary. Do not cite non-existent sources, including fabricated AI-generated citations.

Preprints, Originality, and Research Integrity

Authors must disclose any related preprint, thesis, conference paper, dataset, or earlier dissemination that could overlap substantially with the submission. Reuse of text, figures, datasets, or findings must be appropriately cited and must not constitute misleading duplicate publication. Any suspected overlap is evaluated by editors according to the Plagiarism and Publication Ethics policies.

Language and Proofreading

Authors are responsible for clear, accurate, and consistent academic language. Language assistance and AI-supported editing do not remove author responsibility for the content, and any substantive AI assistance must be disclosed as required by the journal policy.

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

1. Authors submitting a manuscript do so on the understanding that if accepted for publication, copyright of the article shall be assigned to Jurnal Mebis (Manajemen dan Bisnis) .

The copyright transfer agreement and publishing ethical statement gives the Publisher the permission of the author(s) to publish the Work, and it empowers the Publisher to protect the Work against unauthorized use and to properly authorize dissemination of the Work by means of printed publications, offprints, reprints,electronic files, licensed photocopies, microform editions, translations, document delivery and secondary information sources such as abstracting, reviewing and indexing services, including converting the Work into machine readable form and storing it in electronic databases. It also gives the author(s) broad rights of fair use.

The copyright transfer agreement and publishing ethical statement should be filled with respect to article and be signed originally and sent to the Editorial Office in the form of original mail, or scanned document file (softcopy).

1. Authors must declare all such interests (or their absence) in writing upon submission of a?manuscript. This competing declaration includes conflicts or potential conflicts of all listed authors. If?any conflicts are declared, Jurnal Mebis (Manajemen dan Bisnis)  will publish them with?the paper. In cases of doubt, the circumstance should be disclosed so that the editors may assess its?significance.

All the listed authors are requested to fill in completely all section.

1. Authors must submit the competing interest and publication ethics forms at supplementary files.
2. Authors must follow Jurnal Mebis (Manajemen dan Bisnis)  template and guideline.
3. The submission file is in Open Office, Microsoft Word, RTF, or Word Perfect document file format.
4. Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
5. Typed at one side of white paper of A4 size, in single column, 1.5 space line, 10 point Arial font and should be given line numbers. Margins on all four sides are 2 cm. All figures and tables are placed at the end of manuscript pages.
6. The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in AUTHOR GUIDELINE, which is found in About the Journal.
7. If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.
8. Authors must read the submission preparation check list carefully and obey Jurnal Mebis (Manajemen dan Bisnis) requirements.
